Job summary

Briggs Equipment in Cannock is seeking a proactive Logistics Controller to join our team. This permanent role supports logistics and workshop operations, ensuring equipment is received, stored and dispatched safely and efficiently.

You will work hands-on with stock control, forklift operations, and maintain accurate records while upholding high health and safety standards. The position offers training, a pension, and opportunities within a growing team.

Qualifications

  • Experience using computer systems, including Microsoft Excel and stock control or logistics management systems.
  • FLT or similar equipment experience loading/unloading vehicles.
  • Strong understanding of workplace health and safety practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive approach with willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe loading and unloading environment in line with health and safety standards.
  • Carry out safe loading/unloading using appropriate methods and equipment.
  • Complete equipment inspections and condition checks on site.
  • Maintain records of equipment movements, receipts and dispatches.
  • Support workshop operations through stock-picking and parts supply.
  • Identify and report shipment discrepancies and escalate issues.
  • Maintain stock locations and inventory systems for stock control.
  • Support equipment stock audits and inventory checks.
  • Conduct pre-delivery visual inspections to meet customer specs.
  • Carry out battery charging and maintenance on electric equipment.
  • Provide support for out-of-hours call-outs.

The Opportunity: Logistics Controller

Contract: Permanent
Hours: 40 Hours per Week
Location: Cannock

We're looking for a proactive and safety-conscious Logistics Controller to join our team in Cannock. This is a hands‑on role that plays a vital part in supporting our logistics and workshop operations, ensuring equipment is received, stored and dispatched efficiently while maintaining the highest safety standards.

The Impact You Will Have
  • Maintain a safe loading and unloading environment, ensuring all activities are completed in line with company procedures and health and safety standards.
  • Carry out the safe loading and unloading of equipment and vehicles using appropriate methods and equipment.
  • Complete equipment inspections and condition checks on all machines received on site.
  • Maintain accurate records of all equipment movements, including receipts and dispatches.
  • Support workshop operations through efficient stock‑picking and parts supply activities.
  • Identify and report shipment discrepancies, completing the necessary documentation and escalating issues where required.
  • Maintain stock locations and inventory systems to ensure efficient and accurate stock control.
  • Support equipment stock audits and inventory checks.
  • Conduct pre‑delivery visual inspections to ensure equipment meets customer specifications and quality standards.
  • Complete allocated tasks efficiently and accurately to minimise workshop downtime and maximise productivity.
  • Carry out battery charging and maintenance activities on electric equipment to ensure operational readiness.
  • Provide support for out‑of‑hours call‑outs when required.
What Will Help You Excel in This Role
  • Experience using computer systems, including Microsoft Excel and stock control or logistics management systems.
  • Previous experience loading and unloading vehicles using a Fork Lift Truck (FLT) or similar equipment.
  • A strong understanding of workplace health and safety practices and procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • A proactive approach with a willingness to learn and support wider operational activities.
