Job summary

Nutreco’s Ashbourne site seeks an experienced Logistics and Transport Manager to lead end-to-end transport operations across the UK. You will manage planning, scheduling, and fleet activities while coordinating with cross-functional teams to deliver efficient, compliant shipments.

The role requires strong leadership, 5+ years in logistics, and proficiency with ERP and tracking systems. A CPC is advantageous, and opportunities for growth within Nutreco’s SHV family are offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience managing logistics and transport operations.
• Proven track record in transport planning, fleet management, and logistics optimization; CPC qualification would be beneficial.
• Experience managing and developing teams in a fast-paced environment.
• ADR training or certification is a plus.
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., M3) and fleet/tracking systems.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee inbound and outbound logistics operations, scheduling and vehicle management.
• Lead the transport team including planners, admins, gatehouse controllers and driving teams.
• Negotiate with logistics providers and manage third-party relationships for cost optimization.
• Coordinate transport scheduling for outbound and inbound loads across the UK with occasional international shipments.
• Ensure vehicle availability and regulatory compliance with on-site garage manager.
• Develop and monitor KPIs to drive continuous improvement and safety.

About the Role – Drive Operational Excellence in Transport and Logistics

Responsibilities:

• Oversee inbound and outbound logistics operations, ensuring smooth scheduling and vehicle management
• Manage the transport team, including planners, logistics administrators, gatehouse controllers and our loading and driving teams.
• Lead relationships with logistics providers and off-site storage facilities, ensuring service quality and cost optimization
• Coordinate transport scheduling for outbound and inbound loads, ensuring efficient use of the UK fleet
• Supervise the planning and execution of deliveries across the UK, with occasional coordination of international shipments
• Work closely with the on-site garage manager to ensure vehicle availability and compliance
• Develop and monitor KPIs, ensuring continuous improvement in performance and safety
• Lead negotiations with third-party logistics providers, ensuring alignment with company objectives and standards
• Support and train team members, fostering a culture of accountability and growth
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Customer Service, Operations, and Supply Chain to ensure smooth logistics execution

Skills and Expertise

Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of experience managing logistics and transport operations
• Proven track record in transport planning, fleet management, and logistics optimization. CPC qualification would be beneficial.
• Experience managing and developing teams in a fast-paced environment
• ADR (Dangerous Goods by Road) training or certification is a plus
• Experience with ERP systems (such as M3) and vehicle tracking/fleet management systems is preferred
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
• Experience in the agriculture or animal feed sector is desirable but not mandatory
• Soft Skills like proactive, organized, and results-driven, with strong leadership and communication skills. Able to manage multiple priorities, motivate teams, and build strong cross-functional relationships

Other Requirements:

• Availability for very occasional travel within the UK and to logistics partners as required
