Job summary

TEKsystems in Glasgow seeks a Logging & Inventory Engineer on a 6-month contract inside IR35 to design, implement and maintain logging, monitoring and inventory solutions across multi-cloud environments. You will build automation with Python and Shell scripts, manage IaC with Terraform, and support AWS and GCP workloads while improving observability and governance.

This role requires hands-on cloud experience and strong scripting skills, with a focus on reducing manual work and ensuring reliable

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain logging, monitoring and inventory management solutions across multiple cloud platforms.
• Develop automation solutions to improve operational efficiency and significantly reduce manual processes.
• Build, maintain and enhance Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform.
• Develop and maintain scripts and tooling using Python and Shell Scripting to support cloud operations and automation.
• Support cloud engineering activities across Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Drive continuous improvements in cloud observability, monitoring and operational reporting.
• Manage and optimise containerised workloads, including those running on Kubernetes and other containerisation technologies, where required.
• Collaborate closely with engineering and platform teams to improve cloud governance, compliance and operational controls.
• Support cloud asset discovery, inventory management and configuration management initiatives across the multi-cloud estate.
• Contribute to the evolution of cloud-native monitoring and observability practices within the organisation.

Essential Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Amazon Web Services (AWS) in production environments.
• Proven experience delivering logging, monitoring and inventory management solutions within cloud environments.
• Strong Python development skills with a focus on automation and tooling.
• Extensive experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices.
• Strong Shell Scripting capabilities for automation and operational support.
• Demonstrated experience driving automation initiatives to reduce manual effort and improve reliability.
