Job summary

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust's six-month locum consultant post in urology is based at Broomfield Hospital. The role covers general urology: outpatient clinics, elective and emergency surgery, and a 1 in 11 on-call rota with teaching commitments for rotating students.

Qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent.
• FRCS (Urol) or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide and co-ordinate an effective general urology service.
• Provide outpatient urology clinics, including minor procedures.
• Perform independent elective and emergency operating, including day case surgery.
• Provide consultant-level urology on-call (1 in 11).
• Run specialty clinics and take part as a core member of urology MDTs.
• Develop a sub-specialty interest that complements the department.
• Carry out responsibilities linked to a special interest.
• Supervise and manage junior medical staff, following HR policies.
• Take part in all departmental activities, including on-call, audit and teaching.
