Job summary

Medecho LTD has an urgent Locum SHO opportunity in Orthopaedics & Surgery based with an NHS Trust in Wigan. The role entails acute inpatient care, ward rounds, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality surgical care.

The successful candidate will hold full GMC registration, ALS certification, and right to work in the UK, with flexibility to cover days, nights, and weekends. Immediate-start available, competitive hourly rate £40–£45.

Qualifications

• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
• ALS certification mandatory.
• NHS experience in Orthopaedics, Trauma & Orthopaedics, General Surgery or related surgical specialties.
• Valid Right to Work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Assessment and management of orthopaedic and surgical inpatients.
• Participation in ward rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Reviewing new admissions and emergency referrals.
• Pre-operative and post-operative patient management.
• Assisting senior clinicians with patient care and treatment plans.
• Maintaining accurate clinical documentation.
• Liaising with nursing staff, Allied Health Professionals and specialty teams.
• Supporting patient discharge planning.
