Job summary

Medecho LTD is recruiting a Locum Senior House Officer (SHO) in Orthopaedics & Surgery for an immediate start in Basildon. The post is on-site with NHS Trust duties and involves acute surgical care within a dynamic team.

The ideal candidate will hold GMC registration, NHS experience in relevant surgical fields, and ALS certification, with availability to start ASAP and work flexible hours as required.

Qualifications

• Full GMC registration with licence to practise.
• NHS experience in Orthopaedics/Trauma & Orthopaedics/General Surgery.
• ALS certification mandatory.
• Valid Right to Work in the UK.
• Start ASAP.
• Excellent communication and clinical decision-making skills.
• Experience managing acute surgical patients and ward-based care.

Responsibilities

• Assess and manage orthopaedic and surgical inpatients.
• Participate in ward rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Reviewing new admissions and emergency referrals.
• Pre-operative and post-operative patient management.
• Assisting senior clinicians with patient care and treatment plans.
• Maintaining accurate clinical documentation.
• Linking with nursing staff, Allied Health Professionals, and specialty teams.
• Supporting patient discharge planning.

Role Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Locum SHO in Orthopaedics & Surgery to join an NHS Trust on an immediate-start basis. The successful candidate will work within a dynamic surgical team, providing high-quality patient care across orthopaedic and general surgical services.

Essential Requirements

• Full GMC Registration with a licence to practise
• Previous NHS experience in Orthopaedics, Trauma & Orthopaedics, General Surgery, or related surgical specialties
• Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification (mandatory)
• Valid Right to Work in the UK
• Ability to start ASAP
