Job summary

Venn Group is seeking a Principle Prosecutions Lawyer for a Midlands local authority on a rolling 3-6 month term. The role is full-time with predominantly remote work and a once-a-week in-office attendance. Initial IT collection will be in person.

The ideal candidate will have substantial prosecutions experience, advocacy rights, and a background in handling regulatory matters for Local Authorities, including licensing and enforcement.

Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX with Litigation and Advocacy rights.
• Experience in handling Prosecutions matters.
• Can demonstrate prior experience working on behalf of Local Authorities.

Responsibilities

• Managing a varied Prosecutions caseload on behalf of the Local Authority.
• Providing legal advice across regulatory and enforcement matters, including Environmental Health, Trading Standards, Licensing, Planning and Waste Enforcement.
• Managing and supporting a team of lawyers, legal officers and paralegals.
• Full case preparation and case management for Court proceedings.
• Liaising with Officers and internal clients across multiple Local Authority departments.
• Preparing briefs and instructions for Counsel and liaising as required.
• Attending Court on behalf of the Local Authority when necessary.

Venn group’s specialist legal team are currently recruiting for a Principle Prosecutions Lawyer to join a reputable local authority in the Midlands.

This is a Locum position, on a rolling contract basis with an initial term of 3-6 months. The role will be full time, predominantly remote working, with once-a-week in office attendance. Initial IT collection will also be in person.

Rate: Up to £65 per hour (Umbrella)
