Job summary

Locum Ready is seeking a proactive Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to support a GP practice in Newport. You will work with the clinical team on routine procedures, patient assessments and day-to-day treatment room activity to help deliver high-quality care.

This locum role offers ad-hoc or regular weekly sessions with morning and afternoon slots, ideal for long-term block bookings. Prior HCA experience in primary care or NHS and DBS clearance are preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience as HCA in primary care or NHS.
• Enhanced DBS clearance.
• Comfort performing clinical observations and venipuncture if trained.

Responsibilities

• Perform observations (BP, pulse, temperature, SpO2).
• Support treatment room procedures.
• Phlebotomy and sample handling (if trained).
• Complete ECGs and assist with routine assessments.
• Update patient records in the clinical system.
• Assist clinicians with general tasks as required.
