Job summary

Locum Ready is seeking a Locum Practice Nurse to work with a GP practice in Blackpool. The role focuses on chronic disease reviews, wound care, immunisations, smear tests and NHS Health Checks within a structured primary care setting.

You will support high-quality patient care, maintain clear clinical records and contribute to efficient clinic delivery under nursing leadership. Regular sessions and long- term bookings are offered in a well-organised practice environment.

Qualifications

• NMC-registered nurse with experience in primary care.
• Up-to-date immunisation and cytology training desirable.
• Confident in chronic disease management and treatment room-work.
• Good patient communication and clinical reasoning.
• Familiarity with EMIS, SystmOne or Vision.
• Enhanced DBS.
• Experience delivering NHS Health Checks and vaccinations is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Conduct chronic disease reviews for conditions like asthma, COPD, diabetes and hypertension.
• Perform wound care, dressings and treatment room duties.
• Carry out adult and children’s immunisations where trained.
• Undertake smear tests (cytology-trained nurses).
• Complete NHS Health Checks and lifestyle assessments.
• Manage results, recalls and routine follow-up tasks; document clearly in the system.
