Job summary

Locum Ready is seeking a Locum Practice Nurse to support a GP practice in Morpeth. The role focuses on chronic disease reviews, treatment room duties, and routine nursing clinics within a structured primary care environment.

You will contribute to high-quality patient care through clinical reviews, preventative health work and treatment room activity, with well-organised workflows and supportive nursing leadership.

Qualifications

• NMC-registered nurse with primary care experience.
• Immunisation and cytology training desirable.
• Confident in chronic disease management and treatment room work.
• Good patient communication and clinical reasoning.
• Familiar with EMIS, SystmOne or Vision systems.
• Enhanced DBS is required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct chronic disease reviews for asthma, COPD, diabetes or hypertension.
• Perform wound care, dressings and treatment room duties.
• Carry out adult and children’s immunisations (if trained).
• Undertake smear tests (cytology-trained nurses).
• Complete NHS Health Checks and lifestyle assessments.
• Manage results, recalls and routine follow-up tasks.
• Document clearly in the clinical system.
