Job summary

Locum Ready is seeking a Locum Practice Nurse to work for a GP practice in Hexham. The role involves delivering chronic disease reviews, treatment room procedures and routine nursing clinics in a structured primary care setting.

You will contribute to high-quality patient care through clinical reviews, preventative health work and treatment room activity, with well‑organised workflows and supportive nursing leadership.

Qualifications

• NMC registered nurse with experience in primary care.
• Immunisation training and cytology training desirable.
• Confident in chronic disease management and treatment room-work.

Responsibilities

• Conduct chronic disease reviews for patients with asthma, COPD, diabetes or hypertension.
• Perform wound care, dressings and treatment room duties.
• Carry out immunisations where trained.
• Undertake smear tests (cytology-trained nurses).
• Complete NHS Health Checks and lifestyle assessments.
• Manage results, recalls and routine follow‑ups.
• Document clearly in the clinical system.
