Job summary

Locum Ready is seeking a Locum Practice Nurse to work for a GP practice in Rugby. The role focuses on chronic disease reviews, wound care, and routine nursing clinics within a structured primary care environment. You will support immunisations, health checks, recalls and follow-ups, with emphasis on accurate documentation and patient communication. NHS DBS enhanced clearance is required, and regular or ad-hoc sessions with long-term bookings are available.

Qualifications

• NMC-registered Nurse with experience in primary care.
• Up-to-date immunisation and cytology training desirable
• Confident in chronic disease management and treatment room-work
• Good patient communication and clinical reasoning
• Familiarity with EMIS, SystmOne or Vision
• Enhanced DBS

Responsibilities

• Conducting chronic disease reviews for patients with asthma, COPD, diabetes or hypertension
• Performing wound care, dressings and treatment room duties
• Carrying out adult and children’s immunisations (if trained)
• Undertaking smear tests (cytology-trained nurses)
• Completing NHS Health Checks and lifestyle assessments
• Managing results, recalls and routine follow-up tasks
• Documenting clearly in the clinical system
