Job summary

Locum Ready is seeking a Locum Practice Nurse to work at a GP practice in Andover. The role focuses on delivering chronic disease reviews, treatment room procedures, and regular nursing clinics within a structured primary care environment.

You will contribute to high-quality patient care through clinical reviews, preventive health work, and efficient treatment room activity, supported by well-organised workflows and nursing leadership. Regular or ad-hoc sessions are available.

Qualifications

• NMC-registered Nurse with experience in primary care.
• Immunisation training and cytology training desirable.
• Confident in chronic disease management and treatment room work.
• Ability to communicate clearly with patients and document in clinical systems.

Responsibilities

• Conduct chronic disease reviews for asthma, COPD, diabetes or hypertension.
• Perform wound care, dressings and treatment room duties.
• Carry out adult and children’s immunisations (if trained).
• Undertake smear tests (cytology-trained nurses).
• Complete NHS Health Checks and lifestyle assessments.
• Manage results, recalls and routine follow-up tasks.
• Document clearly in the clinical system.

This role is ideal for a Practice Nurse with strong assessment skills who can confidently deliver chronic disease reviews, treatment room procedures and routine nursing clinics in a structured primary care environment.

You will contribute to high-quality patient care through a balance of clinical reviews, preventative health work and treatment room activity. The practice offers well-organised workflows, supportive nursing leadership and a clear structure for daily clinic delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Conducting chronic disease reviews for patients with asthma, COPD, diabetes or hypertension
• Performing wound care, dressings and treatment room duties
• Carrying out adult and children's immunisations (if trained)
• Undertaking smear tests (cytology-trained nurses)

Requirements

• NMC-registered Nurse with experience in primary care
• Up-to-date immunisation and cytology training desirable
• Confident in chronic disease management and treatment room-work
• Good patient communication and clinical reasoning
• Familiarity with EMIS, SystmOne or Vision
• Enhanced DBS
