Job summary

Locum Ready is seeking a NMC-registered Practice Nurse to join a GP practice in Accrington. The role emphasises chronic disease reviews, treatment room duties and routine nursing clinics within a structured primary care environment.

You will contribute to high-quality patient care through clinical reviews, preventative health work and treatment room activity. Familiarity with EMIS, SystmOne or Vision is advantageous.

Qualifications

• NMC-registered Nurse with experience in primary care.
• Up-to-date immunisation and cytology training desirable.
• Confident in chronic disease management and treatment room-work.
• Good patient communication and clinical reasoning.

Responsibilities

• Conduct chronic disease reviews for asthma, COPD, diabetes or hypertension.
• Perform wound care, dressings and treatment room duties.
• Carry out adult and children’s immunisations (if trained).
• Undertake smear tests (cytology-trained nurses).
• Complete NHS Health Checks and lifestyle assessments.
• Manage results, recalls and routine follow-up tasks.

You will contribute to high-quality patient care through a balance of clinical reviews, preventative health work and treatment room activity. The practice offers well‑organised workflows, supportive nursing leadership and a clear structure for daily clinic delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Conducting chronic disease reviews for patients with asthma, COPD, diabetes or hypertension


• Performing wound care, dressings and treatment room duties


• Carrying out adult and children’s immunisations (if trained)


• Undertaking smear tests (cytology-trained nurses)


• Completing NHS Health Checks and lifestyle assessments


• Managing results, recalls and routine follow-up tasks


• Documenting clearly in the clinical system

Requirements
