Job summary

Locum Ready is seeking a Practice Nurse to work with a GP practice in Stockport. The role involves delivering chronic disease reviews, wound care, treatment room duties and routine nursing clinics within a well-structured primary care environment.

You will contribute to high-quality patient care through clinical reviews, immunisations (where trained), NHS Health Checks and lifestyle assessments, with regular or ad-hoc sessions and long-term bookings.

Qualifications

• NMC-registered nurse with primary care experience.
• Immunisation and cytology training desirable.
• Confident in chronic disease management and treatment room work.
• Strong patient communication and clinical reasoning.
• Familiar with EMIS, SystmOne or Vision.
• Enhanced DBS completed.

Responsibilities

• Conduct chronic disease reviews for asthma, COPD, diabetes or hypertension.
• Perform wound care, dressings and treatment room duties.
• Carry out immunisations and cytology where trained.
• Complete NHS Health Checks and lifestyle assessments.
• Manage results, recalls and routine follow-up tasks.

This role is ideal for a Practice Nurse with strong assessment skills who can confidently deliver chronic disease reviews, treatment room procedures and routine nursing clinics in a structured primary care environment.

You will contribute to high-quality patient care through a balance of clinical reviews, preventative health work and treatment room activity. The practice offers well-organised workflows, supportive nursing leadership and a clear structure for daily clinic delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Conducting chronic disease reviews for patients with asthma, COPD, diabetes or hypertension
• Performing wound care, dressings and treatment room duties
• Carrying out adult and children’s immunisations (if trained)
• Undertaking smear tests (cytology-trained nurses)
• Completing NHS Health Checks and lifestyle assessments
• Managing results, recalls and routine follow-up tasks
• Documenting clearly in the clinical system

Requirements
