Job summary

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust seeks a Locum Consultant in Plastic Surgery with a special interest in Hand Surgery. Based at the St Andrew’s Centre, Broomfield Hospital, you’ll deliver expert care in burns and plastic surgery, drive clinical governance, and lead a busy MDT.

The role involves research, CME, and clinical audit to maintain high standards. The post offers a fixed-term contract for 12 months, full-time (10 sessions/week), with a salary range of £113,565 to £150,569 per year

Qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent completed and evidence of specialist training or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of the NHS structures, MDT workflows and how to lead a department.
• Experience supervising and teaching junior staff and medical students.

Responsibilities

• Provide the clinical service in General Plastic Surgery and Burns with hand surgery focus.
• Lead and participate in multidisciplinary team activities and clinical governance.
• Undertake regular ward rounds and out-of-hours consultant cover as required.
• Supervise, teach and develop junior medical staff and contribute to training post approvals.
