Locum Pharmacist - 1 day a week (Wednesday) plus holiday cover

Reporting to: Superintendent Pharmacist

Responsible for: Pharmacy cover for Superintendent Pharmacist

Location: 87 Duke Street Pharmacy London, W1K 5PQ - On site

Role Description

This role encompasses a variety of tasks in the Pharmacy, primarily providing cover for the Superintendent Pharmacist. Duties include overseeing pharmacy operations and dispensary, supporting Mail Order and Pharmacy Homeopaths. The locum Pharmacist must uphold standards of practice in line with GPhC and GMP principles.

Key Responsibilities/Duties

1. Stay updated with current pharmacy practices, new drugs, and their uses.
2. Advising clients and fulfilling prescriptions, including:

• Taking prescriptions via phone, in the pharmacy, and from clinics, liaising with doctors and homeopaths about prescription queries.
• Advising patients on adverse side-effects and potential interactions of medicines with homeopathy or other treatments.
• Communicating with patients sensitively and empathetically, especially in distressing situations.
• Advising on minor ailments and acute cases; referring chronic cases to GPs or homeopaths.

Dispensing medicines, including:

• Checking dosages and ensuring correct and safe supply and labelling.
• Dispensing NHS and private prescriptions from various sources.
• Assisting with mail order and online orders.
• Overseeing storage of homeopathic remedies.
