Locum Pharmacist - 1 day a week (Wednesday) plus holiday cover

Responsible for: Pharmacy cover for Superintendent Pharmacist
Location: 87 Duke Street Pharmacy London, W1K 5PQ - On site
Role Description
This role involves a variety of tasks within the Pharmacy, primarily providing cover for the Superintendent Pharmacist. Responsibilities include overseeing pharmacy operations and dispensary, and supporting the Mail Order and Pharmacy Homeopaths. The locum Pharmacist must uphold standards of practice in line with GPhC and GMP principles.
Key Responsibilities/Duties
- Stay updated on current pharmacy practices, new drugs, and their uses.
- Advise clients and fulfill prescriptions, including:
- Taking prescriptions via phone, in the pharmacy, and from clinics, liaising with doctors and homeopaths regarding prescription queries.
- Inform patients of potential side-effects and interactions of medicines and homeopathic remedies.
- Communicate tactfully and empathetically with patients in distressing or emotional situations.
- Advise on minor ailments and acute cases; refer chronic cases to GPs or homeopaths.
Dispensing duties, including:- Checking dosages and ensuring safe and correct supply and labeling of medicines.
- Dispensing NHS and private prescriptions from various sources.
- Assisting with mail order and online orders.
- Overseeing storage of homeopathic remedies and supervising medicine preparation and sale of Pharmacy medicines.
Ensure administrative compliance, including:- Maintaining records and scanning prescriptions.
- Managing statistical data for monitoring and reporting.
- Submitting NHS prescriptions via FP34C forms.
Support ad-hoc pharmacy activities, such as:- Supporting retail operations.
- Responding to customer inquiries.
- Assisting the Superintendent Pharmacist with various requests.
- Managing and training Pharmacy Homeopaths.
- Promoting prescriptions and business development.
- Innovating to improve patient care and team efficiency.
Qualifications and Experience:- Professional experience in a pharmacy or health-related retail environment.
- Up-to-date CPD records to maintain GPhC registration.
- Experience with legal and compliance requirements in pharmacy practice.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with sensitivity to customer needs.
- Discretion and confidentiality, with adherence to GDPR/data protection.
- Management experience, with skills in team development.
- Flexible, proactive, and well-organized with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Genuine interest in homeopathic and natural remedies, with high knowledge and enthusiasm for natural health.
- Proficient in IT systems.
