University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust seeks a locum consultant in neonatology to lead daily NICU operations, supervise junior staff and oversee transitional care. The role includes on-call duties Monday to Thursday, fetal medicine liaison, and undergraduate teaching.

The post offers senior responsibilities, opportunities to participate in neonatal transport and a commitment to lifelong learning within a nine-consultant team.

Formación

• CCST/CCT in Paediatrics (Neonatal Medicine) or overseas equivalent, or eligible within 6 months.
• MRCPCH or equivalent.
• Full GMC registration with entry on the Specialist Register.

Responsabilidades

• Run the NICU day to day, including handover ward rounds and supervising junior medical staff.
• Caring for all admitted NICU patients allocated to the consultant of the week.
• Lead the transitional care ward, including morning rounds and supervision of junior staff.
• Provide fetal medicine liaison and antenatal counselling.
• Deliver undergraduate medical teaching with formal feedback.
• Lead multi-professional education sessions for NICU staff.
• Coordinate neonatal transfers and morning liaison with Peninsula units.
• Provide on-call cover Monday to Thursday and respond to service needs.
• Train and supervise junior doctors, conduct audits and CPD.
