Job summary

Locum Ready is seeking a Locum Health Care Assistant to support a GP practice in Sunderland. The role focuses on clinical observations, routine patient assessments, and day-to-day treatment-room activity within an organized primary care environment.

You will help manage patient flow, assist with core clinical duties and contribute to high-quality care delivery, with strong support and clear guidance to ensure each session runs smoothly.

Qualifications

• Prior HCA experience in primary care or the NHS.
• Phlebotomy experience desirable.
• Comfortable carrying out clinical observations.
• Good communication and patient interaction skills.
• Basic IT competence for clinical system documentation.
• Enhanced DBS.

Responsibilities

• Performing observations including BP, pulse, temperature and oxygen saturation.
• Supporting with treatment room procedures.
• Phlebotomy and sample handling (if trained).
• Completing ECGs and assisting with routine patient assessments.
• Providing lifestyle advice and supporting health promotion.
• Updating patient records accurately in the clinical system.
• Assisting clinicians with general tasks as required.
