Job summary

Locum Ready is seeking a Locum Health Care Assistant (HCA) to support a GP practice in Southampton. You will work within a busy primary care setting, assisting with routine procedures and patient assessments to help the clinical team deliver high‑quality care.

Ad‑hoc or regular weekly sessions are available, with morning and afternoon slots. The role suits a proactive HCA with NHS primary care experience and a valid DBS; full guidance and support are provided to ensure smooth sessions.

Qualifications

• Prior HCA experience in primary care or NHS.
• Phlebotomy experience desirable.
• Comfortable carrying out clinical observations.
• Good communication and patient interaction skills.
• Basic IT competence for clinical system documentation.
• Enhanced DBS

Responsibilities

• Performing observations including BP, pulse, temperature and oxygen saturation.
• Supporting with treatment room procedures.
• Phlebotomy and sample handling (if trained).
• Completing ECGs and assisting with routine patient assessments.
• Providing lifestyle advice and supporting health promotion.
• Updating patient records accurately in the clinical system.
• Assisting clinicians with general tasks as required.
