Responsibilities

• Assess and examine patients and plan their clinical care
• Manage urgent, complex and emergency presentations, starting emergency care where needed
• Manage long-term conditions and review medications under NICE and local guidance
• Carry out telephone triage and duty doctor work on a rotation
• Make home visits and out-of-hours calls as agreed
• Refer patients to other services and keep accurate clinical records
• Handle referrals, repeat prescriptions and other practice admin promptly
• Support self-care, healthy lifestyles and health promotion advice
• Share an equal part of the practice workload and work with the multidisciplinary team
• Contribute to clinical governance, audit, QOF and quality initiatives
• Keep up appraisal, revalidation, safeguarding and CPD
• Teach medical students and educate the wider team on request
