The Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust are looking to appoint a Locum Obstetric Consultant to join 27 other Obstetric and Gynaecology Consultants in our busy secondary care Trust.

Main duties of the job

1. Antenatal clinics
2. Caesarean section lists
3. Resident Labour Ward Days and Nights with a Tier 2 & Tier 1 doctor
4. Flexible sessions depending on skills and abilities
5. Developing enhanced clinical skills, especially in the assessment and management of acutely ill patients
6. Working well in a multi-professional team with excellent team-working skills
7. Delivering clinical and quality targets as agreed with clinical teams and commissioners
8. Following patients throughout their clinical pathways

Job responsibilities

A formal job plan will be agreed within 3 months of starting, covering clinical work, teaching, research, education, and managerial responsibilities. For a full-time role, the plan includes approximately 8.5 Programmed Activities (PAs) of Direct Clinical Care and 1.5 Supporting Professional Activities (SPAs). The plan is reviewed annually and may be adjusted based on service needs.
