Job description

The successful candidate will join an existing team of 13 consultants (11.3 WTE) and 5 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, providing in- and out-patient Respiratory care. This is a 10 PA post, with potential training and participation in specialty clinical activities across MFT for suitable candidates. The role encourages active involvement in research. Candidates must be eligible for GMC registration; MFT cannot support GMC sponsorship for permanent vacancies.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide clinical leadership in In-patient Medicine, supervising junior medical staff and trainees as required
  • Contribute to education, working towards accreditation as a Clinical and Educational Supervisor
  • Participate in departmental audit and clinical governance
  • Provide cross-cover for annual/study leave and short-term sickness as agreed within the team
  • Perform other duties relevant to the service's efficient operation as it evolves
  • Engage in administrative and management roles within the department

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • GMC Registration MRCP or equivalent, with entry in the GMC
  • Specialist Register for GIM and Endocrinology & Diabetes Mellitus via CCT (proposed CCT within 6 months of interview) or CESR
Clinical Experience
  • Skills in Internal Medicine equivalent to Higher Speciality Training in GIM and Diabetes
  • Experience in Diabetes care equivalent to Higher Speciality Training
Desirable
  • Experience with acute take at consultant level in the UK; ICU experience
Management and Administration
  • Experience in clinical audit and patient safety initiatives
Desirable
  • Experience in service improvement
Teaching Experience
  • Experience teaching medical and non-medical staff
Other Attributes
  • Good organizational skills, flexibility, teamwork, and communication skills
