West London Children's Healthcare (WLCH) invites applications for a full-time (10PA) locum Resident Paediatric Medicine Consultant position based at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.
On 1st April 2022, paediatric and child health services across Chelsea & Westminster NHS Foundation Trust and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust merged under a unified governance and leadership structure, forming WLCH.
Our vision is to enhance the health and wellbeing of children and young people in West London by fostering collaboration among clinical teams and developing equitable care pathways, with strong links to research and education at Imperial College.
WLCH provides paediatric services across four sites: Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, West Middlesex, Hammersmith Hospital, and St Mary's Hospital. We also partner with other acute providers in NWL and community, mental health, borough, and voluntary services to improve care for children and young people.
This is a full-time, 10PA role primarily based at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. Responsibilities include attending wards or HDU, resident nights in the Paediatric Emergency Department, and outpatient clinics, which may include general paediatrics or specialties such as epilepsy, diabetes, endocrine, or allergy.
The consultant team provides 24-hour onsite access to a paediatrician for safe and effective care. The successful candidate will work a shift rota and be resident in the Paediatric Emergency Department at night (1 in 6 shifts).
During night shifts, the resident consultant oversees all children in the PED, manages shift operations, supervises SHO decisions, and ensures departmental performance meets indicators.
Active participation in training, clinical governance, and quality improvement is expected.
