A leading hospital trust is seeking a Consultant in Gastroenterology to join its dynamic team at West Middlesex University Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of gastroenterological patients and will contribute to both inpatient and outpatient care, including endoscopy services. Ideal candidates should possess MRCP, be on the Specialist Register, and have a strong commitment to delivering high-quality care and training support to junior staff.
Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for one candidate to join a growing, dynamic and forward thinking Gastroenterology and Hepatology Department at Chelsea & Westminster Foundation Trust. The candidate will join a faculty of 22 consultants working across our 2 Hospitals; Chelsea & Westminster Hospital and West Middlesex University Hospital.
The post would be based predominantly at West Middlesex Hospital, with the potential to collaborate closely with colleagues at Chelsea in line with the visions of the department. The appointed individuals are expected to uphold the Trust values to ensure the delivery of the highest quality care to patients with liver disease.
The appointee must be a member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) or equivalent and would be expected to have completed higher specialist training or equivalent in Gastroenterology. It is highly desirable that the appointee holds a higher medical degree (i.e. MD or PhD).
Applicants must be on the Specialist Register (for Gastroenterology) or within six months of being admitted to the Register for trainees if currently in a training programme within the UK.
Main duties of the jobThe appointee will work under the terms and conditions of the new consultant contract. He/she together with Consultant colleagues will be responsible for the management of patients with gastroenterological diseases in C&W Foundation Trust. The post holder should have a wide experience of Gastroenterology, and the management of GI bleeding. The post holder will be encouraged and supported to continue to develop specialist interests that synchronise with the departmental service. The post holder will cover both nutrition and general gastroenterology clinics at West Middlesex Hospital. They will have 3 endoscopy lists a week when on their non-ward weeks, and an additonal list on a Saturday when oncall on the GI bleed rota (1 in 8). The post will predominantly be based at the WMUH site, but it is envisaged the post holder will collaborate closely with Chelsea colleagues but be based at West Middlesex.
