Job description

Applicants are invited to apply for a Locum Consultant Radiologist post with a specialist interest in paediatric imaging (10 PAs). The post has arisen due to maternity leave. Applicants wishing to work part-time are encouraged to apply and will be accommodated if successful. The start date is mid-August 2025 for a one-year duration. Workplace and Department

The post will be based at St Mary’s and Queen Charlotte’s Hospital. St Mary’s Hospital specializes in paediatric infectious disease, haematology, and oncology (Level 2), with a large bone marrow transplant unit, a busy general paediatric department, and an established PICU. There are two neonatal units across both sites with dedicated NICUs. St Mary’s is the paediatric trauma centre for northwest London, and the hospital collaborates with Chelsea NHS Trust for paediatric surgery. The imaging department supports busy A&E and UCC departments, as well as general practitioners.

Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate will have completed formal radiology training and possess experience in paediatric radiology.

Main Duties

1. Reporting paediatric plain radiographs and cross-sectional imaging.
2. Performing paediatric ultrasound and fluoroscopy.
3. Attending paediatric MDT meetings.
4. Supporting the existing paediatric radiology team.
5. Collaborating closely with the team and clinicians in patient management.
6. Contributing to general departmental work, including duty "hot desk" reporting and CT reporting.
7. Participating in the "hot" duty rota, including evening and weekend general reporting.
8. Supporting teaching and training initiatives, including radiology training schemes, sonographers, and reporting radiographers.
9. Engaging in audit and research projects aligned with personal interests.

Additional Information

The position is mainly based at St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, and Queen Charlotte’s Hospital, Hammersmith.
