A leading hospital in London is seeking a Consultant Radiologist specializing in thoracic imaging. The role involves delivering specialist services, participating in teaching, and supporting lung cancer screening. Applicants must have relevant qualifications and experience.
We are delighted to be advertising a post for a Consultant Radiologist at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, specialising in thoracic imaging. The post-holder will support the delivery of specialist thoracic imaging services, including lung cancer and non-cancer work. The role will also include service commitment to the lung cancer screening service at UCLH.
This is a fixed term locum NHS consultant post within the Department of Radiology in the Imaging Division of the Surgery and Cancer Clinical Board for a duration of 12 months.
The post carries a requirement for diagnostic on-call service.
The post-holder must have sub-specialty experience in thoracic radiology, as well as skills and experience in general radiology and oncology imaging to support the delivery of services at UCL. The Radiology Department is very active in both teaching and clinical innovation, and the post-holder would be expected to participate in these.
Applicants should possess the FRCR or equivalent and be on the specialist register or within 6 months of obtaining their CCST.
Short-listed candidates are encouraged to visit the hospital before being interviewed. Earlier visits (at the candidates' own expense if prior to short-listing) would be welcomed by Dr Doug Pendse, Divisional Clinical Director, Imaging Division.

The post-holder will work with multidisciplinary teams to develop and provide thoracic imaging within the department and to ensure service development under the guidance of the clinical lead.
The post involves participation in general and acute radiology services and diagnostic on-call duties.
The clinical job includes specialist chest reporting sessions, outpatient and inpatient work covering respiratory diseases, MDT support, and participation in acute radiology sessions and on-call rota.
UCLH offers excellent work/life balance, with weekday out-of-hours cover provided by the in-house team until 7 pm and outsourced thereafter. The weekend on-call rota for general radiology is approximately 1:25, with time off in lieu. The intervention on-call service is shared among the interventional team.
The role's duties may be altered as needed, and active participation in annual appraisals and objective setting is expected. Performance will be monitored accordingly.
