Pulse Healthcare Limited is seeking a highly skilled Locum Biomedical Scientist (Band 6) to work in Bacteriology in Central England. You will join a busy Microbiology department and support delivery of diagnostic services.

HCPC registered BS with NHS Microbiology experience and strong Bacteriology knowledge is required. The role requires independence in a fast-paced lab, good communication, and familiarity with LIMS and quality standards.

Qualifications

• HCPC registration as Biomedical Scientist is required.
• Experience as Band 6 Biomedical Scientist in UK Microbiology is essential.
• Strong Bacteriology knowledge and practical lab experience.
• Ability to work independently in a busy diagnostic environment.
• Experience using LIMS.
• Experience in an NHS laboratory setting.
• Knowledge of quality management systems and accreditation requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialist Microbiology investigations within Bacteriology.
• Process, analyse, interpret, and report microbiological samples per procedures.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment while ensuring quality standards.
• Participate in day-to-day running of the laboratory and support workflow.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with UKAS and ISO 15189 standards.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support patient care and service delivery.
• Adhere to health and safety, infection prevention, and governance policies.
