Job summary

Gate Gourmet is seeking motivated Loader staff for a fixed-term contract in the UK. The role includes 3 days on/3 days off, 06:00–18:00 shifts, and duty to load/unload food and equipment with strict safety procedures. We offer meals, parking, pension, sick pay, and training.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Load and unload food and equipment as directed, ensuring high standards and no customer complaints.
• Ensure all loads are secured safely and signed for at collection points.
• Comply with all Gate Gourmet and customer security procedures.
• Follow health, safety, and hygiene requirements, including correct manual handling techniques.
• Drive a van when required.
• Submit daily vehicle checks and report any defects.
• Maintain accurate records in the daily log and review at shift start.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Load and unload food and equipment as directed, ensuring high standards and no customer complaints
• Ensure all loads are secured safely and signed for at collection points
• Comply with all Gate Gourmet and customer security procedures
• Follow all health, safety, and hygiene requirements, including correct manual handling techniques
• Drive a van when required
• Conduct daily vehicle checks and report any defects using the appropriate procedures
• Take responsibility for company and customer property
• Report all accidents and take appropriate preventative action
• Communicate effectively, both verbally and non-verbally, at all levels
• Maintain accurate records in the daily log and review it at the start of each shift
• Remain flexible and adaptable within the role
• Carry out quality checks and implement improvements where necessary
• Assist with follow-up actions from Quality Assurance and Health & Safety reports
• Perform any other duties as required

Education

• GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent)

Work Experience

• A valid, clean UK driving licence is essential
• Good standard of written and spoken English
• Previous experience in a similar role is desirable
• Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Skills & Knowledge

• Strong reading and writing skills in English
• Good customer service skills
• Positive and proactive attitude
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Strong team player
• Previous experience in catering or hospitality is desirable but not essential.
• You must be willing to work shifts and be eager to learn.
• Alongside job-related training, you will develop key skills such as teamwork, time management, multitasking, communication, and attention to detail.
