Job description

Do you have lived experience of recovery from an eating disorder? Do you want to shape how our patients' voices are heard? The FREedOM Provider Collaborative is looking for a Lived Experience Practitioner to join our small, friendly, and supportive team.

Role Overview

The Provider Collaborative recognizes that the Lived Experience Practitioner role is fundamental in ensuring that service users, their families, and carers are at the heart of, and have a voice in, the decisions made about their care. Your voice and views will be valued, and we actively encourage new ideas and innovations.

Under the guidance of the Quality and Safeguarding Lead and with support from the commissioning team, you will work collaboratively with experts by experience (EBE) and colleagues through models and techniques of participation. You will play an integral role in supporting, developing, and embedding co-production principles across the Provider Collaborative and will contribute to the development and implementation of participation and experience plans.

Position Details

This is a permanent, part-time role of 30 hours, with flexible scheduling. The role requires presence across our PC sites; therefore, being a driver is essential. The role is primarily based on working from home.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead on the delivery of engagement workshops, training, and activities with service users, carers, families, and staff to support service development and quality oversight.
  2. Organize workload independently, prioritizing tasks using sound judgment.
  3. Collaborate with FREedOM PC Providers to establish best practices for service user engagement, including face-to-face or virtual workshops and research activities such as surveys.
  4. Maintain professional communication with team members, disciplines, and other services.
  5. Guide and inform the implementation of FREedOM PC’s clinical model through personal experience and collaboration with service users and carers, ensuring their voices are central to the model.
  6. Promote innovative and creative approaches to improve the experience of adults using eating disorder services across Dorset, Hampshire, and the Isle of Wight, including their carers and families.
  7. Undertake relevant training to meet service needs and role requirements.
