Job summary

Active Care Group at Kings Norton Hospital invites an Expert by Experience to help shape services from a patient perspective. The role focuses on using lived experience to influence care, support service improvements and ensure patient voices inform decisions.

You will work with senior leaders, contribute to training and policy development, participate in recruitment, and advocate for patient voice in care decisions. This is a part-time opportunity with negotiable salary.

Qualifications

• Have personal experience of accessing mental health services.
• Feel comfortable sharing experiences in a thoughtful, constructive and positive way.
• Are passionate about helping improve services and outcomes for others.
• Have good communication and listening skills.
• Can work collaboratively with a range of people, including healthcare professionals and senior leaders.

Responsibilities

• Working with the Hospital Director and senior leadership team to review and develop services from a patient perspective.
• Sharing your lived experience to help colleagues better understand the experiences of those accessing mental health services.
• Supporting training, induction and awareness sessions for colleagues.
• Contributing to the development of policies, procedures and service improvement initiatives.
• Taking part in recruitment activities and interview panels, helping us identify candidates who demonstrate the values and qualities that matter most to patients.
• Acting as an advocate for patient voice, ensuring lived experience is represented in discussions and decision-making.
