Job summary

Wetherby Pembridge is seeking a Live-In Groundsman to maintain and present our sports ground and facilities. The role covers natural grass pitches, artificial surfaces, tennis courts and landscaped areas, with responsibility for opening/closing and out‑of‑hours support.

The ideal candidate has practical grounds maintenance experience, a proactive, safe, and independent approach, and good communication skills to liaise with schools, hirers and contractors.

Qualifications

• Experience in grounds or estate maintenance is preferred.
• Ability to operate grounds equipment safely.
• Understanding of health and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Maintain natural grass pitches, mark lines, aerate, fertilise, reseed, water and repair‑report safety concerns.
• Maintain artificial surfaces and tennis courts: brush, clear debris, control weeds, inspect nets and fencing.
• Prepare pitches and courts for school activities, fixtures, tournaments and bookings; move/store goals and nets as required.
• Keep landscaped areas, car parks and boundaries tidy with mowing, hedge trimming and litter removal.
• Inspect gates, fencing and drainage; report damage; assist with seasonal frost/ice clearance and prep for weather.
