Job summary

Essential Employment is seeking a Litigation Paralegal in Central London to support housing management and landlord-tenant matters on a full-time temporary basis. The role covers litigation conduct, drafting documents, and case management under supervision.

You will liaise with housing officers, clients, and external solicitors, assisting solicitors and counsel, while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.

Qualifications

• Experience in housing management and landlord-tenant matters.
• Draft litigation documents and pleadings.
• Manage a caseload under supervision.
• Provide support to solicitors, counsel and legal colleagues in case preparation.
• Liaise with housing officers, clients and external solicitors.
• Maintain case management records in line with procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal support on housing-related litigation matters.
• Assist with possession proceedings and other litigation work.
• Draft notices, applications and other litigation documents.
• Support witnesses and attend meetings or home visits as required.
• Conduct legal research and prepare advice notes and reports.
• Contribute to training on housing management and landlord-tenant law.

• Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal support and assistance on a range of housing management and landlord and tenant matters.
  • Assist with the conduct of litigation relating to:
    • Possession proceedings
    • Access injunctions
    • Anti-social behaviour (ASB) cases
    • Disrepair claims
    • Tenancy enforcement matters
  • Draft legal proceedings, pleadings, witness statements, notices, applications and other litigation documents.
  • Manage a caseload of pre-action housing litigation matters under supervision.
  • Support solicitors, counsel and legal colleagues in preparing cases for court and hearings.
  • Liaise with housing officers, clients, external solicitors, counsel, courts and partner agencies.
  • Provide support and guidance to witnesses involved in legal proceedings, including attendance at meetings and occasional home visits where required.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case management records in accordance with departmental procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct legal research and assist in preparing legal advice notes, reports and correspondence.
  • Support the delivery of training and awareness sessions on housing management and landlord and tenant law.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, legal procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide cover for colleagues within the legal team as required.
