Job Description:

Litigation Paralegal – Business Interruption Claims

? Manchester City Centre (Office-based)

? Full-time, Permanent

? Up to £30,000 (DOE)

? Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts

We’re working with a respected, multi-disciplinary law firm based in Manchester city centre that’s looking to hire an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join their Business Interruption Claims (BIC) team.

This firm has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality legal services across commercial litigation, data breaches, financial mis-selling, and business insurance disputes. With continued growth across their commercial litigation department, they’re now expanding their team to help support businesses pursuing claims against insurers for loss of income during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.

If you're looking to join a progressive, city-centre legal practice with clear opportunities for progression and hands-on casework—this could be the perfect next move.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll play a key role in handling a portfolio of Business Interruption Claims, assisting solicitors in preparing cases for trial, managing correspondence, and liaising with clients throughout the litigation process.

Day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting legal research, case reviews, and pre-action investigations
  • Drafting court documents, trial submissions, and instructions to counsel
  • Managing ongoing client communication and responding to third-party queries
  • Preparing and proofreading pleadings and legal correspondence
  • Supporting mediation and settlement negotiations
  • Attending court hearings and trials alongside counsel
  • Maintaining accurate records using internal systems (CRM/case management software)
  • Assisting with administrative tasks to support the wider litigation team

What They’re Looking For

Required:

  • Law degree (LLB or MSc)
  • Working knowledge of Civil Procedure Rules and the Commercial Court Guide
  • Proven experience working within commercial litigation or High Court cases
  • Confident communicator with strong writing skills
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage a busy caseload
  • High attention to detail and accuracy with legal documentation
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and legal case management systems
  • A team player who’s also comfortable working independently

Nice to Have:

  • 1+ year of litigation paralegal experience
  • Experience handling multi-claimant or group litigation
  • Exposure to business interruption insurance claims or relevant commercial disputes
  • Awareness of basic accountancy principles in relation to business loss

What’s on Offer

  • Competitive salary up to £30,000 (dependent on experience)
  • 25 days annual leave + bank holidays
  • A supportive, modern working environment in a central Manchester office
  • Full training and ongoing development
  • Regular company events and weekly business updates
