Job summary

Withers in London is seeking an ambitious mid-level associate to join the firm's leading Litigation and Arbitration team. The role involves managing a diverse caseload of commercial litigation and arbitration matters.

Candidates will have 3-4 years PQE, strong drafting and client relationship skills, and a keen interest in cross-border disputes. Hybrid working with 2-3 days in-office is offered, along with a flexible benefits package.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor admitted to practise in England & Wales.
• Approximately 3-4 years' post-qualification experience.
• Excellent written communication and drafting skills.
• Strong interest in working on complex, cross-border and international disputes.
• Proven business development and client relationship management skills.
• Experience managing a varied caseload across multiple areas.
• Fluency in an additional language would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

The team

We represent a wide variety of businesses, financial institutions and government agencies. As well as acting in contractual disputes, we are known for working in: public international law, international arbitration (investment treaty and commercial), financial services, art and cultural property, equity and fraud, reputation management, insolvency, international trusts and enforcement. We have a particular knowledge and understanding of European litigation procedures, and for example are able to use our experience to translate between civil law and common law jurisdictions.

The role

We are seeking an ambitious and personable mid-level associate to join the firm's leading Litigation and Arbitration team. The successful candidate will have strong technical expertise, experience managing complex disputes, and a keen interest in business development. The role will involve all aspects of litigation and arbitration work, including but not limited to:

• Managing a diverse caseload of commercial litigation and arbitration matters
• Assisting on a broad range of commercial litigation and arbitration cases, including complex and cross-border disputes
• Drafting, reviewing and amending key documents, including witness statements, pleadings, submissions and client briefings
• Assisting with the preparation of fee estimates, pitches and business development initiatives
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and other stakeholders

Key Skills And Experience

• Qualified solicitor admitted to practise in England & Wales
• Approximately 3-4 years' post-qualification experience
• Excellent written communication and drafting skills, with the ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative
• Strong interest in working on complex, cross-border and international disputes
• Experience in assisting with large and complex matters, while managing a varied caseload across multiple areas
• Proven business development and client relationship management skills
• Highly analytical, detail-oriented and well organised, with strong project management capabilities
• Solid grounding in commercial litigation, with experience in areas such as insolvency, fraud and commercial arbitration being highly desirable
• Ability to manage multiple matters effectively and work collaboratively within a team
• Fluency in an additional language would be advantageous

The Essentials

• Standard working hours: 9.30am - 5.30pm but flexibility is a must
• Hybrid working (a minimum of 2-3 days per week on average in the office)
