Job description

EduTalent Group is recruiting a dedicated Literacy Intervention Teaching Assistant in Surrey for a specialist education provider. This is a full-time, term-time only position supporting learners across multiple sites, including an Arts & Media Centre.

The role involves enhancing reading skills for students with additional needs, including dyslexia and SpLD. You will deliver structured interventions like Fresh Start and Read Write Inc, working one-to-one and in small groups, and collaborate with teachers to monitor and support student progress.

Key responsibilities include delivering interventions, supporting literacy learning, adapting materials, assessing progress, and promoting literacy across the curriculum. You will also support safeguarding policies and contribute to a positive learning environment.

Requirements:

  • GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths
  • Experience supporting young people in educational settings
  • Ability to deliver structured interventions and support diverse literacy needs
  • Understanding of safeguarding protocols
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Full enhanced DBS, QTS or teaching qualification
  • Experience with students with SpLD, dyslexia, or SEND
  • Previous intervention teaching experience
  • Experience with CPD or leading literacy support
  • Data-informed teaching practices
  • Knowledge of phonics programmes like Fresh Start and Read Write Inc
