Job summary

Cambridge Consultants is seeking a senior Linux & Network Engineer to strengthen our IT Infrastructure Team. You’ll design, implement, maintain and support Linux operating systems across enterprise and secure environments, and shape network design and automation.

You’ll join a focused team of 5 within a department of 29, collaborating with project teams and security colleagues. The role is predominantly on-site and offers ownership over delivery and continuous improvement of our infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Experience implementing and supporting Linux, Debian and Red Hat in an enterprise environment with authentication, security and networking.
• Automating desktop deployments and lifecycle management with provisioning tools such as Ubuntu Landscape, Foreman/RHEL, Satellite, Ansible.
• Network design, implementation and support for enterprise-scale environments.
• Programming or scripting experience applicable to automation and tooling.
• Strong troubleshooting skills in complex environments.
• Appreciation of secure-by-design and DevOps principles.
• Willingness to undergo security vetting; UK passport required for eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting Linux OS and applications within an Enterprise environment.
• Network design, implementation, maintenance and support.
• Supporting Linux and network infrastructure in secure environments, including clearance where required.
• Developing scripts to automate system configuration and processes (Infrastructure as code).
• Monitoring Linux logs and proactively identifying potential issues.
• Ensuring Linux OS security standards compliance (Cyber Essentials Plus).
• Supporting Linux software licensing and lifecycle management.
• Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant infrastructure technologies and continuous improvement.
• Collaborating with Cyber security team to investigate security incidents as required.
