Mylar Specialty Films (UK) Ltd - Line Engineer

Mylar Specialty Films (UK) Ltd (formerly Dupont Teijin Films (UK) Ltd) is a leading global producer of PET and PEN polyester films, serving various markets including Battery Materials, Durable Cards, Electrical Insulation, and more. The company is a 50/50 joint venture between Celanese Corporation and Teijin Limited, with approximately 2000 employees worldwide. The UK site is based in Dumfries, Scotland, with the Global R&D based in Wilton, Teesside.

Role Overview

The Line Engineer is responsible for PET film production on their assigned asset, focusing on monitoring, reporting, and improving production performance. Working within a small Asset Team, they coordinate daily operations to ensure safety and efficiency, manage raw material and consumable availability, and oversee corrective maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead daily production meetings and coordinate activities across teams.
  2. Collaborate with Quality Assurance to investigate quality issues.
  3. Lead troubleshooting for process, equipment, and product issues.
  4. Manage silo and recycle logistics.
  5. Plan and request hardware and materials to meet production schedules.
  6. Monitor hardware performance and maintain records.
  7. Coordinate cleaning activities and develop start-up/shutdown procedures.
  8. Support process development and production trials.
  9. Ensure safety and compliance throughout operations.
Qualifications and Skills
  • A degree in Engineering or Science or relevant experience.
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Data analysis and organizational skills.
  • Ability to project manage and motivate teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications and shop floor systems.
