Job summary

Arup is offering a 10–12-month Industrial Placement Lighting Designer opportunity across London, Manchester, Sheffield, Leeds, Bristol or Edinburgh. You’ll join a community of lighting experts, assisting on all aspects from concept to detailed specifications while pursuing a professional qualification.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a recognised degree or diploma in lighting, architecture, engineering, product design or interior design, graduating 2028 or 2029.
• A level (or equivalent) in Maths is desirable but not required.
• A 2.1 or above in relevant modules in related subjects is advantageous.
• Familiarity with 3D modelling software is desirable.
• Some knowledge of lighting software and daylight analysis tools would be beneficial.
• Skills in drawing, sketching and presentation tools such as Photoshop and Illustrator are desirable.
• Some experience and ability in coding, software and digital skills would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Hands on lighting design for a range of projects.
• Carrying out lighting calculations.
• Preparation of renderings, drawings, and specifications.
• Assisting the production of project-related correspondence and reports.
• Project and team administration duties.
• Co-ordinating work with designers and engineers of other disciplines.
