Job summary

PD Ports Limited is seeking a Lifting Equipment Operative in the Engineering department at Tees Dock, Middlesbrough. You will ensure the safe operation of lifting gear, confirm equipment is fit for purpose and maintain records in line with LOLER/PUWER, reporting to the Engineering Manager.

The role requires lifting experience and IT skills, including MS Office, with flexibility to align shifts with vessel operations.

Qualifications

• Lifting experience and LEEA trained (both desirable).
• Appointed person/Lift Supervisor (desirable).
• Loose lifting equipment and wire rope examination credentials (desirable).
• Good communication skills with an IT skill set in Microsoft office with the ability to write reports.
• Is flexible with working shifts so that they align with vessels berthed/working.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring lifting equipment is fit for purpose and ready for use in operations including receiving, re-delivery, storage, and ship loading/unloading of cargoes.
• Updating and maintaining records (Paper/Digital) to control equipment issue and identify lost/damaged items per LOLER/PUWER and other regulations.
• Liaising with supervisory team to prioritise maintenance/inspections to maintain service levels and undertake planned inspections on assets per schedules (e.g., wire rope, forklift load chains and tines).
• Providing advice to operations regarding lifting equipment and its use, including the uniform load method of rating and PPE.
• Assembling lifting beams and ancillary equipment on company locations and supporting other Engineering departments when requested.
