Job summary

Orona UK is a leading European provider of lifts and escalators, hiring an Installation Engineer to join the on-site team in Glasgow. You will lead safe, efficient installation projects, ensuring compliance with specifications and timely completion.

Working with Contract Managers and clients, you will guide Installation Mates, Improvers, or Apprentices, uphold EN-81 standards, and maintain tools, vehicles and installation records.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years lift installation experience.
• Strong knowledge of EN-81 safety regulations.
• Experience installing hydraulic, MRL and traction lifts.
• NVQ Level 3 in Lift Installation or equivalent; LEIA Units.
• SSSTS or equivalent (for Senior/Lead roles).
• CSCS certification or ability to obtain.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Review installation packs and drawings.
• Survey and set out lift shafts.
• Install hydraulic, traction and MRL lifts to standards.
• Manage and develop Installation Mates, Improvers or Apprentices.
• Maintain health, safety and environmental standards.
• Complete timesheets, installation reports and inform management.

Job Description

At ORONA, we are global leaders in the design, manufacture, installation, maintenance and modernisation of lifts, escalators, moving ramps and walkways. The Role

As a key member of the installation team, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient installation of new lift systems, ensuring projects are completed to specification, on time, and ready for testing. You will work closely with Contract Managers, Site Managers, and clients, while also managing and developing Installation Mates, Improvers, or Apprentices.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Installation Preparation

• Review installation packs, specifications, and engineering drawings
• Survey and set out lift shafts prior to installation
• Manage delivery checks and report shortages
• Build strong working relationships with site teams and clients

Lift Installation

• Install Orona’s hydraulic, traction and MRL lift systems to company and manufacturer standards
• Ensure lifts are installed to correct tolerances and ready for testing
• Deliver installations that meet PAS 32 standards with minimal defects

Team Leadership

• Supervise and develop Installation Mates, Improvers or Apprentices
• Provide coaching, guidance and performance feedback

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Ensure strict adherence to Health, Safety and Environmental standards
• Enforce site safety rules and correct use of PPE

Operational Management

• Maintain company van, tools, and equipment
• Complete timesheets, job sheets and installation reports
• Communicate site progress, delays, and builder works to management

Requirements

Experience

• Installation Engineer: Minimum 3 years lift installation experience

Technical Knowledge

• Strong understanding of EN-81 regulations
• Knowledge of lift wiring systems and electrical components
• Experience installing hydraulic, MRL and traction lifts

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Lift Installation or equivalent
• LEIA Units (Lift Technology) as appropriate to level
• SSSTS or equivalent (for Senior / Lead roles)
• CSCS certification or ability to obtain
• Full UK Driving Licence
