Our libraries are at the heart of their communities. Staff work with community members to create a thriving environment, reduce poverty and inequality, support digital skills development, and provide information and advice. We promote language and reading development through programs like Bookbug and Read, Write, Count. We also offer a space for social connection for those experiencing loneliness, providing a full range of books and resources for everyone to live, learn, and work.

Young people are regular library users, engaging in structured activities or meeting friends. It is essential that staff understand the issues faced by young people and are willing to support and engage with them to maintain a positive, safe, and trusted environment. Youth engagement experience is welcomed.

To be successful, you should demonstrate excellent customer service skills and an understanding of the diverse needs within the community. If you are a team player committed to putting customers first, we encourage you to apply. During the interview, we will discuss your preferred hours and the possibility of both permanent and temporary positions. Staff may work across any library in the city.
