Job summary

Brio Leisure in Northwich is offering an Apprentice Leisure Attendant role. You will work 37 hours per week in a busy leisure facility, supervised by the Duty Manager, and gain essential lifeguarding and fitness qualifications through the apprenticeship.

As part of the programme you’ll receive training, a NPLQ, Gym Instructor and Swim Teacher qualifications on completion, with opportunities for progression within Brio Leisure’s facilities.

Qualifications

• Must have the right to work in the UK.
• Must not hold a qualification in the same subject area as the apprenticeship.
• Must not be in any other form of education.

Responsibilities

• Supervise members of the public in the swimming pool and all leisure areas. Respond in accordance with Pool Standard Operating Procedures and within the guidelines of statutory training.
• Assist the Duty Manager in supervision – including training – of leisure staff and work experience colleagues.
• Ensure the building’s security, opening/locking up all public areas as per the facility programme.
• Control, assist and ensure the safety of customers using the facilities.
• Act as lifeguard and make use of lifesaving skills to rescue bathers in difficulty, in accordance with swimming pool procedures. Administer first aid as required.
• Provide a high level of customer care at all times, answering queries, directing our customers and responding to complaints.
• Control the behaviour of centre users in accordance with centre instructions.
• Set up and take down sports equipment as required for various events and sports activities in different parts of the centre.
• Move furniture and equipment in and out of stores and about the building as required.
• Undertake cleaning duties including cleaning the pool bottom, pool surrounds, footbaths, etc.
• Check shower and toilet areas for serviceability, damage or evidence of misuse and take appropriate action when necessary.
• Assist in the evacuation of the building by carrying out specific procedures in the event of fire, bomb alerts or other emergencies.
• Ensure company policies relating to National Operating procedures and Emergency Action Protocols are adhered to.
• Carry out any other duties required by the Duty Manager, within the scope of the post.
