Hillbrow Health and Wellbeing is recruiting a Lifeguard Leisure Attendant to maintain safety and deliver a high standard of service at the centre in Eastbourne. You will guard the pool, support customers, and assist with front-desk tasks and memberships within a busy leisure environment.

You will respond to emergencies, supervise wet and dry areas, and ensure hygiene and safety throughout the facility. NPLQ is required or obtainable on our next course; training is provided and funding may be

NPLQ qualification or ability to obtain it in the near future.
Experience in similar work environment is preferred.
Willingness to adhere to health and safety policies.

Responsibilities

Provide friendly and efficient service to all customers.
Proactively promote the Centre to the public and respond to inquiries.
Assist on reception as required and sell memberships.
Lifeguard and supervise pool area; assist swimmers in difficulty; apply first aid as needed.
Supervise changing rooms and showers; maintain hygiene standards.
Record pool chemical levels and report issues to management.
Prepare facilities for swimming lessons, water activities and private events.
Assist in organizing children's activities during school holidays.
Maintain a valid National Pool Lifeguard Qualification with monthly training.
Follow Hillbrow Health and Wellbeing policies and Health & Safety regulations.

What is Hillbrow Health and Wellbeing?

Hillbrow is a healthy living, activity focused, leisure and sports centre offering connected healthcare provision under one roof, enabling the best possible health and wellbeing in the community.

By linking resources between NHS Primary Healthcare Services and Community Leisure, GPs and Healthcare Teams can collaborate with leisure support staff to provide proactive and dynamic care under one roof. The focus is on person-centred care, with an emphasis on positive outcomes for physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.

The Post in Context

The key purpose of this post is to maintain constant surveillance of customers in the facility; acting immediately and appropriately to secure the safety of customers in the event of emergency. When necessary, you will provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.

Customer Service

The priorities of the Lifeguard Leisure Attendants are:

To provide a friendly and efficient service to all customers.
To pro-actively provide information to promote the Centre to the public at all times.
To respond positively to customer enquiries.
To work on reception as required.
To sell memberships as required

General Tasks

To clean all areas of the Centre including pool hall, halls, changing rooms, toilets, showers, storeroom and drains to ensure exceptional standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
To ensure that all users behave in an orderly manner at all times and take appropriate action should any member of the public misuse the facilities.
To assist with the delivery of continuous improvement plans.
To assist in the maintenance, use and updating of safety equipment and to ensure that the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act are properly adhered to.
To be diligent about compliance with the Trust’s Health and Safety Policy.

General Tasks – Wet Side

To lifeguard and supervise the pool area, assist swimmers in difficulty, undertake any necessary life-saving operations and apply First Aid as needed.
To supervise changing rooms, showers and associated areas.
To make and record periodic checks on chemical levels of the pool water and report to a manager should it fail to meet the required standards.
To ensure the day to day preparation of the pool facilities for swimming lessons, special water activities and private parties.
To assist the DM in organising special water activities for children during the school holidays.
To maintain a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification including attendance at staff training on a monthly basis.
