Job summary

Innovate UK is advertising a maternity cover Project Manager role to oversee day‑to‑day delivery of Life Sciences Programmes within the Portfolio Support Office. You will work with diverse teams to ensure milestones are met and that governance, risk management and impact tracking are effectively implemented.

The role focuses on maintaining programme assurance, producing governance papers, and supporting senior staff while enabling flexible, hybrid working across UKRI sites and home working.

Qualifications

• A levels or equivalent qualification or previous relevant experience.
• Considerable experience of providing project management support for large public sector projects (S&I).
• Experience of working in a complex multi-organisation environment with varying cultures (S&I).
• Experience of delivering projects within a programme structure (S&I).
• Experience of monitoring risks and managing risk escalation processes (S&I).
• Experience of creating management reports for a range of internal and external stakeholders, creating governance papers and minutes (S&I).
• Experience of achieving results through influencing skills rather than direct control (S&I).
• Experience of successfully managing multiple stakeholders with conflicting demands and priorities (S&I).

Responsibilities

• Provide project management support for the Programmes' activities, working with relevant delivery teams.
• Support day-to-day delivery of Governance functions and assurance.
• Support the development of governance papers and secretariat for governance meetings.
• Support and deputise for more senior delivery members as required.
• Track and report timelines, finance, risks and impact metrics.
• Support embedding monitoring, evaluation, and impact management across projects.
• Set up and maintain programme management products and processes.
• Record and report management information as required.
• Maintain information management frameworks such as shared inboxes and SharePoint folders.
• Participate in project meetings and communicate actions to the team.
• Ensure changes are documented and agreed with stakeholders.
• Support management of internal stakeholders.
• Promote knowledge sharing and best practice across PSO and Life Sciences Growth Sector.
