Job summary

Laing O'Rourke in Oxford seeks a Project Manager to lead the delivery of a £50m+ life sciences facility, including Vaccinology Centre and Pandemic Sciences Centre. You will coordinate with the University of Oxford, consultants and subcontractors to ensure integrated lab, education and research spaces are delivered on time.

The role requires strong leadership, experience in large-scale construction, and delivery of complex projects within life sciences or healthcare.

Qualifications

• Fit-out background or degree in Construction Management, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Pharmaceutical/laboratory/life sciences experience.
• Proven track record delivering large-scale construction projects valued at £50m+.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day management and delivery of a major life sciences facility from construction through to completion and handover.
• Develop, manage and monitor delivery strategies, programmes, budgets and resource requirements.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to ensure integration of laboratory, research, education and collaborative spaces.
• Oversee the delivery of serviced laboratory environments, specialist MEP systems, clean rooms and critical infrastructure.
• Ensure full compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
• Monitor project performance against programme, cost and quality objectives, implementing corrective actions.
• Drive adoption of digital engineering, BIM and modern methods of construction throughout the lifecycle.
• Support commissioning, validation and handover activities to ensure facilities are fully operational and fit for purpose.
