Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.

Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.

About The Role

We are looking for a proactive and organised Licensing Processing Officer to join our Housing Improvement Team. In this important administrative role, you will support the delivery of the Council’s property licensing scheme, ensuring applications are processed accurately, efficiently and in line with relevant procedures. You will manage and maintain licensing records and databases, respond to enquiries from landlords, tenants and letting agents, verify application information and fees and provide excellent customer service across a range of communication channels. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to improving housing standards and supporting residents across the borough.

About The Team

The Housing Improvement Team is committed to ensuring safe, well-managed and compliant private rented housing. Working closely with residents, landlords, letting agents and partner organisations, the team plays a key role in delivering housing services and supporting enforcement activity where required. You will join a collaborative and customer-focused team that values continuous improvement, innovation and high-quality service delivery. The team actively embraces new ways of working and uses technology to enhance efficiency and outcomes for local communities

About You

We are looking for someone with strong administrative experience, ideally gained within a complex, regulated or customer-focused environment. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be highly organised and able to manage competing priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail. Essential requirements include strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook and database systems; experience of working independently and using your initiative to resolve issues; the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders; and confidence working with data, spreadsheets and information systems. You will be a team player with a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes, excellent customer service and continuous improvement. Knowledge of housing licensing or HMO licensing processes would be advantageous but is not essential
