Job summary

Newcastle University Library is seeking a Supervisory Metadata Librarian to manage metadata processes, create bibliographic records, and support content discovery and collection management within the Content and Discovery team.

The role requires experience in academic libraries, knowledge of cataloguing, and staff supervision. The post is fixed-term until 17 May 2027 with interviews in person.

Qualifications

• Detailed knowledge of a Library Management System’s Acquisitions and Cataloguing modules.
• Experience supervising staff in an academic/library setting.
• Experience with integrated library computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Create and enhance bibliographic records where none exist.
• Oversee metadata quality to maximise discoverability.
• Supervise Library Assistants and manage workflows.
