About the role

As an LGV1 Driver, you'll keep our retail operation flowing by ensuring our stock is in the right place at the right time for our customers. Based out of one of our national or regional distribution centres, you'll be transporting goods across our supply chain network and shops in one of our LGV articulated vehicles. You'll represent the John Lewis Partnership brand, demonstrating courteous, professional, safe, and economical driving standards at all times.

Note: You must be 18 years or older to work in this role.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Plan your delivery journey to ensure efficiency and support the smooth running of our supply chain.
  2. Support the safe loading and unloading of your trailer.
  3. Carry out safety checks on your lorry.
  4. Maintain knowledge of the Highway Code, WTD, EU Drivers Hours Regulations, the Partnership's Transport Partners handbook, and adhere to them.
  5. Find solutions to unexpected situations and update the transport office about your journey, communicating any problems or delays.
  6. Report vehicle issues appropriately.
  7. Complete supplier and Partnership documentation accurately.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • A valid Manual UK LGV1 C + E driving licence (maximum of 6 points).
  • A valid Driver Qualification Card (with up-to-date training) and Tachograph Card.
  • Previous experience driving LGV articulated vehicles.
Desirable Skills and Experience
  • Good local and national geographical knowledge.

Full-time work of 47.5 hours per week, with various shift patterns including weekends.
